Born and raised in Zimbabwe, Jabulani moved to South Africa in 2006 to make a living as a sculptor. He feels strongly drawn to all natural elements and through his work he wishes to raise awareness for the fragility of our ecological environment.
Inspired by the spirit of the timber pieces, Jabulani works intuitively with their natural shapes and creates African themed sculptures, which remind reminiscent of traditional dancing gestures. He carves art pieces from a clearance in the woods of the Montebello Design Centre in Cape Town – a creative hub, which he shares with many other local artists.
For the Matchbox JAHRESGABE Jabulani carved sets of 2 ‚Cape Rabbits‘ from indigenous wood, between 9 and 12 cm high.
